J. MARION SIMS FOUNDATION AWARDS $1.1 MILLION IN GRANTS
Eleven organizations in Lancaster, Chester and York counties are recipients of approximately $1.1 million in grants awarded by the J. Marion Sims Foundation.
“These grant awards represent responses to a broad array of needs by a number of community organizations,” said Foundation President Jim Morton. “We are pleased to be able to support them in providing a wealth of needed services.”
Grant awards were made to:
- CareNet, Inc. - $78,500 for one year for its prescription assistance program and operations.
- Catawba Care Coalition, Inc. - $202,500 over three years for its Holistic Health Collaborative to expand its education and treatment services for HIV-AIDS in Lancaster County, Great Falls and Fort Lawn.
- Commun-i-care - $11,400 for one year for prescription assistance for the working uninsured.
- Friends of Juvenile Justice - $50,000 over two years for its Community Connections Center and youth programming.
- Great Falls Rescue Squad - $180,000 for one year for equipment upgrades.
- Joint Recreation Commission of Lancaster County - $200,000 over two years for its Buford Area Community Recreation Center.
- Lancaster County First Steps Partnership - $145,077 over three years to provide nursing services for local day care centers.
- Lancaster County School District - $91,083 over three years for its swimming and water safety program for fourth-grade students.
- Lancaster Fatherhood Project - $77,700 for two years for its program to improve access to health education and services for low-income fathers.
- Palmetto Health Foundation - $50,000 over two years for its children’s hospital capital campaign.
- Parkinson Association of the Carolinas - $11,000 for one year for its Tri-County Parkinson’s Association Branch Project.
The J. Marion Sims Foundation supports programs of prevention and education that enhance health and wellness in Lancaster County, South Carolina and the communities of Great Falls and Fort Lawn.
