THREE TRUSTEES RE-ELECTED TO J. MARION SIMS FOUNDATION BOARD
Three community leaders have been re-elected to the Board of Trustees of the J. Marion Sims Foundation for terms of service that began October 1.
Local attorney David R. Blackwell, educator Miriam M. (Mim) Boucher and business executive Stanley D. Johnson were re-elected by the board to three-year terms.
“We are delighted that David, Mim, and Stan are continuing their service to the Foundation,” said Chairman Dexter Cook. “Each of them has established a solid record of community involvement and each brings unique experiences, attributes, and perspectives that are important in further developing and strengthening the Foundation.”
An attorney with Blackwell Trimnal LLC, Blackwell holds an accounting degree from Wofford College and law degree from the University of South Carolina. He has served as mayor of Kershaw and as president of the Lancaster County Council of the Arts among other community positions, and currently serves as president of the Indian Land Rotary Club.
Boucher is an instructional specialist for the Lancaster County School District, having worked as a teacher and principal in Lancaster County. She received her undergraduate degree from Lander University, a Master of Arts degree from Appalachian State University and Education Specialist degree from Winthrop University. She has served on The Springs Close Foundation Community Advisory Board and is currently a member of the board of trustees of the Lancaster County Partners for Youth.
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Kanawha Insurance Company, Johnson is a graduate of the University of Denver and serves on the board of Directors of KMG America Corporation. He is currently a member of the Lancaster Rotary Club and has been active with the Educational Foundation of the University of South Carolina at Lancaster.
In addition to being re-elected to the board, Johnson was re-elected to a two-year term as Treasurer of the Foundation.
The J. Marion Sims Foundation’s mission is to support programs and projects of prevention and education that enhance the health and wellness of the citizens of Lancaster County, and the communities of Great Falls and Fort Lawn.
