Richard W. Simpson retired in January, 2017 after a 43 year career. He spent his first ten years with Springs Industries in various management roles before shifting to what became a 33 year banking career. He spent 25 years as a technology executive helping grow Bank of America. His last eight years were spent with the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and BB&T Bank focusing on technology risk management. His professional certifications (retired status) include Information Systems Auditor, Information Systems Control and IT Governance. Richard also has a B.S. in Business Management and an MBA from the University of South Carolina (Phi Beta Kappa, Honors graduate).
Richard and his wife Sara are life-long residents of Lancaster. They have three grown children and two young grandchildren. Richard served on the Educational Foundation of USC Lancaster Board from 2010 through 2017. In 2015 -16 he was board president. He is currently president of the USC Lancaster Board of Visitors. Mr. Simpson joined the Foundation as a Community Advisor in 2018.
